Richard D. Dick Heintzelman, age 57, of Columbia City, Ind., died at 4:30 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, Ind. He was born on August 29, 1953 to Ross V. and Charleene M.(Kauffman) Heintzelman.
He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1971 then went on to earn his Diploma in Accounting from IPFW. Born and raised in Columbia City he lived in Sedalia, MO, Longmont, CO and Albuquerque, NM where he was employed with Koch Industries as a manager. On October 4, 1980 he married Martha J. Prater in Sedalia, MO. He was employed for 22 years with Koch Industries retiring in 1990. After his retirement he returned to Columbia City. He was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Marty J. Heintzelman of Columbia City; daughter, Leslie (Raymond) Reim; sons, Lawrance Williams of Marysville, CA and Joseph Heintzelman of St. Joseph, MO; mother, Charleene Heintzelman of Columbia City; brothers, Larry (Kathy) Heintzelman of Ada, MI and Ed (Ro) Heintzelman of Columbia City; sister, Joyce (Eric) Houser; 3 grandchildren, Clorisa (Tyler) Campbell of Fort Wayne, Ind., Keisha Gilbert of Akron, CO and Jimmy Williams of Yuba City, Cal.; and 3 nephews, Heath, Seth and Levi Heintzelman. He was preceded in death by his father Ross Heintzelman.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 4pm - 8pm at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City, Ind. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastors Mike Tarr of Roanoke Baptist Church and Brent Lenentine of Gospel Light Baptist Church, Rio Rancho, NM officiating. Memorials in memory of Mr. Heintzelman may be given to the Fairhaven Foundation, P.O Box 6396, Fishers, IN 46038. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
