Richard J. "Ric" Hockemeyer

Richard Jay “Ric” Hockemeyer, 68, of South Whitley, Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Miller's Merry Manor in Warsaw. Born December 29, 1953, in Huntington, he was the son of DeWayne and D. Marie (Turpin) Hockemeyer.

Growing up in Whitley County, Ric graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1972. On May 8, 1993, he married Lisa Fry. Ric was a carpenter and had worked for Plastic Veneering in Tunker, J.G. Cabinet in South Whitley, Bridgeport and Ecojacks in South Whitley. He was a former member of the South Whitley AmVet.

Ric is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lisa Hockemeyer; daughter, Katie (Gearl) Stephens; son, Chris (Jessica) Hockemeyer; daughter, Beth (John Morris) Hockemeyer; father, DeWayne Hockemeyer; sisters, Victoria (David Meyer) Thorson and Lorene (James) Jenkins; brothers, Greggory Hockemeyer and Jeffrey (Sherri Lowder) Hockemeyer; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death Mother, Dora Marie Hockemeyer.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services for Ric will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday May 12, 2022, at the funeral home, with Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus, officiating.

Burial will take place at Eberhard Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial donations may be given in his memory to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or the South Whitley AmVets.
