RICHARD HOWARD KREIDER

March 29, 1931 — February 13, 2008

Richard Howard Kreider, age 76, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 8:34 a.m. at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City, IN. Born on March 29, 1931 in South Whitley, IN, the son of Howard Douglas and Opal S. (Salesman) Kreider.

He has lived his entire lifetime in Whitley County, moving from South Whitley, IN to Columbia City, IN in 1991. He graduated from Washington Center High School with the Class of 1949. He served during the Korean War with the United States Army from 1952-1954. He married Delores J. Coolman on July 15, 1956 at South Whitley United Methodist Church, South Whitley, IN. He was a lifetime farmer in the Tunker area, Bayman Food Bank, South Whitey, IN, 17 years at Standard Marathon Gas Station, South Whitley, IN, South Whitley Trucking for 8 years, Trafco and then he retired from Central Cities Freight Lines, Inc. He was a memeber of the American Legion Post #98, Columbia City, IN and South Whitley Fire Dept for 29 years, Fort Wayne Bowling Assoc. since 1970 where he currently served as a Board of Director, he was a 30 year member of the Columbia City Bowling League at Main Bowl where he was serving as the Secretary/Treasurer.

Survivors include his wife, Delores J. Kreider of Columbia City, IN; children, Melonie L. (Michael) Sroufe; Colleen S. Buzzard, Auburn, IN; Janolyn J. Kreider, Columbia City;Richard A.Rick (Charlene) Kreider, Columbia City; Lucinda K. (Tim) Martz, Columbia City;11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Joe A. Kreider of Fort Wayne, IN and 1 sister, Donna J. Rubrake of Columbia City, IN; In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Russell,Paul D., Martin Harry and James Rex Kreider and 1 sister, Joyce Ann May.

In accordance to Mr. Kreiders personal request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.
