Robert L. Jackson, age 83, of Albion, IN passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his residence at Big Lake. Born January 2, 1928 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Bazil and Venia Grace (Bowles) Jackson.
He lived his entire lifetime in Whitley and Noble counties and attended Collins High School. On April 15, 1950, he married Gloria J. Waltman.He worked at Woolen Mills, Columbia City, Essex Wire, Ligonier, Liberty Homes, Syracuse from 1965-1981 and Jaxon Industries, Columbia City. He was baptized as one of the Jehovahs Witnesses in 1956 and devoted much time to teaching others about the Bible. He enjoyed gardening, ice skating and residing at his lake home.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gloria J. Jackson of Albion; 5 children, Robert G. Jackson of Columbia City, Rebecca(Bob) Payne of Plano, TX, Rick (Cindy) Jackson of Fort Wayne, Rodney (Sheila) Jackson of Columbia City and Ryan David Jackson of Albion; 2 sisters, Marilyn (John) Walker and Darlene (Don) Daughtery both of Columbia City; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers , Delmar, Oakley and James Jackson and 2 sisters, Ruth Geiger and Virginia Baumgardner.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November11 , 2011 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at the Columbia City Kingdom Hall, 500 North Oak Street, Columbia City. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Jackson to Columbia City Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
