Roger D. Geiger

March 11, 1927 — September 24, 2014

Roger D. Geiger, 87, of Albion, Ind. passed away at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City. Born on March 11, 1927 in Noble County, he was the son of Harold and Treva (Ritter) Geiger.

He attended Wolf Lake Schools. He worked at Liberty Coach in Syracuse and retired from International Harvester in Ft. Wayne. He was also a lifetime farmer and drove school bus for Wolf Lake.After the loss of his first wife, Roger married Joan Gibson on November 30, 1999 at West Point Church, where he also had attended. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed tending to his tomatoes, watermelons, pumpkins and other vegetables in his garden. He loved the wilderness and all of nature's beauty. In his spare time he also enjoyed fishing, trapping, and watching I.U. basketball.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Joan Geiger; sons, Steven D. (Sharon A.) Geiger and Brian L. (Mandy) Geiger, both of rural Albion; step-daughters, Lois (Allen) Shatzer of Fort Wayne and Sandi Holdeman of North Webster; brothers, Ted Geiger andJoe (Sharon K.) Geiger both of Albion; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Mary G. Geiger.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeMoney- Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Grable officiating. Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery.
