Ronald Lee Coolman, age 69, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his home.Born on August 26, 1943 in Fort Wayne, IN, he was the son of Donald Ray and Mary Lou (Raber) Coolman.
As a child he lived in Indiana, Arizona and California and he spent his adult lifetime in Roanoke and Whitley County areas.He attended Columbia City Joint High School.He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964-1968 during the Vietnam War.On March 12, 1966 he married Kay I. Scott at Carlsbad, CA.He worked at the Coil Factory, Roanoke, from 1961-1964, and Uniroyal-Goodrich Tire Company as a tire builder and a warehouser, retiring in July of 2004.He was a Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Gethsemane Ministries. He also attended the men's prayer group of the Brethren Church, Columbia City and Bible Study at Laud Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kay I. Coolman of Columbia City; 2 daughters, Rhonda K. (Robert) Laux of Columbia City; Kendra A. (Kalei Enterline) Freeman of Fort Wayne; son, Cayne L. (Billie Jo) Coolman of Huntington; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jerry (Kate) Coolman of Escondido, CA; Steve Coolman, Montgomery, IL; 3 half sisters, Bonnie (Carl) Geist, Barbara (Tom) Harris and Laura (Frank) Perkins all of Fort Wayne; aunt, Helen Avins of Columbia City.He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Gethsemane Ministries, Huntington, IN with Pastor Worlie Newsome, Jr. officiating.Burial will follow at Glenwood IOOF Cemetery, Roanoke, with graveside military rites conducted by Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Coolman's memory to Disabled Veterans.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
