Ronald C. Myer

Ronald C. Myer, 84, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, in Columbia City, Indiana surrounded by his loving family. Born August 19, 1939, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Donald and Geraldine (Clingenpeel) Myer. 

A graduate from Kokomo High School Class of 1957, alumnus of Manchester College Class of 1961 and Ball State University Class of 1964, Ron's thirst for knowledge was matched only by his unyielding interest in people.  On August 18, 1962, he married Nancy Cormany, whom he met at Manchester College.  Ron cherished above all his beloved wife Nancy and their family.  No matter what he did for his community, his wife and family were his priority and faith in Christ was his guiding light.

Ron dedicated an impressive 46 years to teaching before embracing retirement. His devotion to servant/leadership was evident in various community roles. Ron was a farmer, an active member/elder at Troy Presbyterian Church and also served as a Gideon. His commitment extended further as he lent his wisdom to organizations like the Whitley County Council on Aging, 4-H Inc., Whitley County Historical Society, and Whitley County Ag Museum.  He was also an active member of the Thursday morning Men's Etna group.

In his leisure time, Ron enjoyed watching football, IU basketball games, attending 4-H fairs and eating ice cream!  An adventurous soul at heart, he enjoyed exploring his own version of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Wherever Ron traveled he possessed an innate ability to connect with any individual he encountered.

Ron leaves behind his loving wife, Nancy; children, Scott (Leah) Myer; Trudy Lipply, Rhonda Myer; Greg (Tiann) Myer; grandchildren, Logan (Amber) Myer, Jarin (Ben) Shively, Braden (Makayla) Myer, Sam Lipply; great-grandchildren, Levi, Evelyn, Elson, Lillian, Cole, Elaine, Eastyn, and Emery; brother, Jim Myer; sister, Jeanne Myer.

Visitation will be 2:00 - 5:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Friday, May 31, 2024, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Indiana. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Troy Presbyterian Church, 6465 W. Lincolnway, Columbia City, Indiana. Burial will take place at Troy Presbyterian Cemetery.
