Ronald E. Wolf

July 11, 1935 — July 21, 2020

Ronald E. Wolf, 85, of Larwill, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at his home. Born July 11, 1935 in Mansfield, Ohio, he was the son of Floyd E. Sr. and Letha F. (Barnes) Wolf.

Ronnie grew up in Loudonville, Ohio where he was active in 4-H, enjoyed fishing, riding horses and tractor pulls. While being raised by his Wolf grandparents, Ronnie learned the value of hard work on the farm. In his youth years he volunteered planting pine trees at Mohican State Park and throughout his life he took pride in showing others those trees. Ronnie attended Loudonville High School where he was a catcher on the baseball team and a member of the FFA. In his Junior and Senior year, Ronnie was the FFA President. He graduated with the Class of 1954 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Ronnie was a career truck driver and part of the Teamsters for over 40 years. He started with hauling milk and went on to deliver steel and livestock over his career. For a few years, Ronnie moved and lived in southern Florida and worked for Pan Am Airways in Miami washing the planes and worked at a local bakery. On February 15, 1974, he married Karen Mathias in Columbia City, Indiana and moved to the farm in Larwill, Indiana. He continued to drive for Blue Bell in Columbia City and then started driving for Essex in 1976. Ronnie retired in 1998. He was a member of the American Legion Post 257 in Loudonville for 51 years, the VFW and the Columbia City Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

He was an animal lover and the only hunting he enjoyed was for mushrooms. Ronnie loved watching baseball and had an eye for calling the pitches from his experience of being a catcher. He also looked forward to watching The Price Is Right, Gun Smoke and the Andy Griffith Show and listening to music by Ernest Tubb.

Birthday wishes, Mother’s Day calls and wishing happy anniversary will be deeply missed by his family. Survivors include his children,  Debbie (Stacy) Hange of Jeromesville, Ohio, Shelley Hootman, of Loudonville, Ohio, Jeff Wolf of Wooster, Ohio,  Jerry Wolf of Loudonville, Ohio, Terri (Mark) Hull of LaPorte, Indiana, Joe (Diane) Wolf of Larwill, Indiana and Andy (Tonyia) Wolf of Rushville, Indiana; 21 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen Wolf; daughter-in-law, Linda Wolf; grandson, Josh Wolf; sister, Ladona Levingston; and brother, Floyd Wolf Jr.
