ROSEALENE WHALEY

Rosealene Whaley, age 74, of South Whitley, Ind. died at 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, Ind. She was born in Sidney, Ind. on November 18, 1935. She was the daughter of Russell J. and Veva M. (Rickert) Farley.
She was a lifetime South Whitley resident except for 3 years in Wyoming (Big Piney). She graduated from Chester High School, NorthManchester, Ind. with the Class of 1953 and completed 1 year at Fort Wayne Warner Beauty College. She married Lee H. Whaley on June 6, 1954 in North Manchester, Ind. at the United Brethren Church. She was a lifetime beautician at various locations, as well as she worked for Essex Wire as a wire inspector for 9 years, Weatherhead, Columbia City as a inspector for 3 1/2 years and a truck driver for 5 1/2 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and a past leader of 4-H and the Boys and Girl Scouts.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Hanson Whaley of South Whitley, IN; children, Vicky L. (Ronnie) Camacho of Phoenix, AZ; Veryl R. (Debbie) Whaley of Columbia City; LeAnna M. (Tom) Andreas of Columbia City; Charles L. Whaley of Columbia City; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Russell (Devona) Farely of North Manchester, Ind.; sisters, Arlene L. Merriett of North Manchester, Ind.; Barbara A. (Jim) Sorlie of Fort Wayne, Ind., and mother-in-law, Helen Whaley of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service took place on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Ind. Pastor Gene Rohrer of Oak Grove United Methodist Church officiated. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in Mrs. Whaley's memory to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home or Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
