Ruby C. Newton

Ruby C. Newton, 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:05 am Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Glenbrook Health and Rehab. Born February 12, 1933 in Kentucky, she was the daughter of Charles Edward and Mattie Lou (Roberts) Banks.

Ruby was raised in Breathitt County, moved to Mt. Sterling, Ky. before moving to Columbia City in 1960. On October 8, 1953 she married Ruben C. Newton. She worked at Precision Plastics, Inc. Columbia City, IN from 1965 until her retirement in 1996.

Survivors include her, daughters, Deb Newton, of Columbia City, Brenda (John) Honeywell, of Fort Wayne; sisters, Nell Faurote, of Columbia City and Shirley Rebecca (George) Crump, of Columbia City; grandchildren, Jon Honeywell and Pamela Newton; great-grandchildren, Callen, Amelia and Kendra; and great-great-grandchildren, Hayden and Hazel. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2005; son, Charles Newton; brothers, Chester Banks, Holten Banks and Grover Banks; sisters, Martha Walters, Mary Mullins, Florence Ritchie, Josephine Johnson, Reva Grable and Juanita Claxton.

Visitation is 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday August 26, 2017 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services are 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Union Township. Visit www.demoneygrimes.com to send family condolences online.
