Sandra K. Gaff, 65, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 at her home. Born January 25, 1952 in DeKalb County, she was the daughter of Howard P. and Virginia E. (Garrison) Fulk.
She was the youngest child of Howard and Virginia and grew up with her brother Kenneth. Her early years were spent growing up in LaOtto and then Arcola, where she attended school until the 7th grade. From there, her parents moved to the Churubusco area. An honor student, Sandra graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1970.
During this time, she dated a fellow student by the name of Herbert N. Gaff. The two had known each other since she moved to the area and rode the school bus together. The following year after they both graduated, the two were married at Churubusco Methodist Church on August 1, 1971. Throughout their 46 years of marriage, they had several dogs and cats who were like their children.
While in high school, Sandra worked at McCoy Real Estate and after graduating, she worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne for a few years, EH Tepes in Fort Wayne for eight years and Gordon Sloffer in Churubusco for 17 years. She was an active member of Churubusco Lions Club and helped her husband out as he was the governor for the Lions District. During his time, the two enjoyed traveling around representing the District.
Sandra and Herb found relaxation in camping, spending time in the outdoors and having a time share that allowed them to travel around. Over the years, she enjoyed many mystery and romance novels, doing cross words and word searches. As her health declined, Sandra was forced to not to be as active as she was with the Lions Club and the couple would move north of Ft. Wayne in 2012.
Survivors include her husband, Herb Gaff; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth E. Fulk, Sr.; niece, Lisa Kreiger; and a great-nephew, Randall Fulk.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 with a Lions Club service starting at 7:45 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
