Sandra Lee Maggard, 73, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 at her home. Born January 4, 1950 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Walter J. Lahm and Lenora Lucille (Dear) Lahm.
A lifelong Whitley County resident, she graduated from Columbia City High School and on February 5, 1967, she married James Edward Maggard. Sandra had worked for Weatherhead for five years, was a nurse's aide at Miller's Merry Manor, Richard’s Restaurant for eight years, and Vikings for five years, all in Columbia City. Sandra was an avid reader, and passed many hours daily playing video games and when she was able she loved camping and fishing.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, James Maggard; daughter, Christina (Bryan) Seymour; sons, James (Dee Dee) Maggard and Scott (Bambi) Maggard; sister, Kay L. Smith; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Lahm; mother, Lenora Walker; stepfather, Marshall Walker; brother-in-law, Roy Smith; 1 great grandson, Trey Coe and in-laws, Cleo Mabel (Maggard) and Maurice J. Fancil.
Visitation will be 2 to 6pm, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be at 10:00 on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the funeral home, Columbia City with Chaplain Michael Deter, of Parkview Whitley Hospice, officiating. Burial will take place at South Park (Annex) Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Northeast Indiana Cancer Services.
