Shannon I. Harrison

November 3, 1969 — September 30, 2015

To most people that knew Shannon Harrison, it was apparent that his family came first. Shannon thought the world of his wife, Kathy; daughters, Kassee and Shari; and grandchildren, Addison and Brayden. He not only had a giving heart with his family, but to anyone who needed help. He was the type of guy who put everyone else first before himself. His sense of humor, teasing personality and sarcasm will be missed.

After much tragedy, losing three children, Cecil J. and Mildred Midge (Hursey) Harrison had their world brightened back up with the birth of a baby boy on November 3, 1969, Shannon Israel Harrison. Shannon was the youngest child and grew up with his brother, Cecil J and sisters, Malana and Shawn in the countryside off County Road 500 North in Whitley County in the house their father had built.

As a young boy Shannon enjoyed basketball and hunting. He attended Columbia City Joint High School. Not knowing it at the time, he was in classes with his future wife, Kathy J. Hess. Kathy was friends with his sister, Shawn. Shawn eventually got the two together and one of their first dates was at a drive-in-theater where Shannon and Kathy were joined by his daughter, Kassee. On August 7, 1999, Shannon and Kathy were united in marriage in Columbia City.

With company buy outs, he had worked for over 20 years for PTG, Dana and Coupled Products. When he was not at work, he continued to enjoy hunting, spending time outdoors, mowing, watching True TV and football. Shannon was a proud supporter of Penn State and the Indianapolis Colts! Even with having his hobbies, his family and friends still came first. He became an ordained minister to officiate the marriage of his niece, Carmen; cousin, Stephanie; and good friend, Ashley. He enjoyed any time he had with his family; from playing hacky sack and skating with his girls, having family bonfires, family football games and watching Law Order SVU with his daughter Shari. He even showed his daughter Kassee how to work on her car and teach her to change a tire and the oil. He also enjoyed spending special time with his niece and nephew Carmen and Jess Yagel.

Shannon I. Harrison, 45, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kathy; daughters, Shari and Kassee Harrison both of Columbia City; sister, Shawn (Bob) Harmon-Foster of Columbia City; grandchildren, Addison and Brayden Anderson; his five Schnauzers, Shadow, Laycie, Baylee, Storm and Daphne; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil J Harrison; and sisters, Malana Alvey and Karen, Debbie and Sherry Harrison.
