SHERRY K. SANDERS-DAVENPORT

December 27, 1947 — August 30, 2012

Sherry K. Sanders-Davenport, 64, passed away at 12:37 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born on January 27, 1948 in Wabash to Robert F. and Doris Louise (Wilcox) Thompson.

She graduated from Nashville West End High School, Nashville, TN with the Class of 1966. She spent most of her life in Fort Wayne and South Whitley areas. Sherry was employed at 3-M in equipment sales,then earned her Real Estate Broker and Appraiser Certification and was employed as a real estate broker.Sherry was later self employed as an appraiser. She was first married to Alan Sanders who passed away in 2002. Her second marriage was to Ray Davenport on May 27, 1995 in Fort Wayne. Sherry enjoyed gardening, older home restoration, furniture refinishing, antique collecting, baking and actively helped and supported humane societies and "was very dedicated to helping and caring for animals."

She is survived by her husband, Ray F. Davenport of South Whitley; son, Robert (Janice) Sanders, Indianapolis; brothers and sisters, Craig (Sally) Thompson, Hudson, Cathy A. Anspach, Fort Wayne and Darcy (Daniel) Barr, North Webster; 3 step children, Tanya (Jamie) Swartz, Fort Wayne, Rodney (Christina) Davenport, Fort Wayne and John Davenport, Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, very special uncle, John (Betty) Thompson, Yorba Linda, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Kelly Scott and her first husband, Alan Sanders.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2012 from 1-3:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with funeral service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Rhoades officiating. Memorial donations may be directed to Whitley County Humane Society, 951 South Line Street, Columbia City, IN 46725. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
