Stella L. Woods

Stella L. Woods, age 68, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 1:15 pm on Saturday February 1, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on June17, 1956, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Merl and Mary (Davis) Hyndman.

Stella attended Columbia City Joint High School and graduated with the Class of 1974. She started her working career as a waitress at the truck stop in Pierceton. Stella then became a Press Operator at Fibre-Form, before moving on to Bond-Flex, and finally Parker-Hannifin until her retirement in 2019. On October 7, 1990, she married Jay G. Woods, Jr., in Etna.

Stella enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bowling, and golfing. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1906, Columbia City and was very involved in regular activities.

Survivors include her husband Jay Woods, Jr. of Columbia City; children Jeremy White of Columbia City, Joshua (Lyn Wolfe) Lortie of Fort Wayne, Jessica (Eric) Beachy of Huntington; stepson Jay Garrison of Muncie; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Clarence “Clancy” (Hope) Hyndman of Columbia City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Jacob Lortie, siblings Wanda White, Sharon Julian, and Thomas Hyndman, sister-in-law Kathy Hyndman, brother-in-law Chuck Julian.

Funeral service for Stella will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday February 10, 2025, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling two hours prior to service.

Memorial contributions in memory of Stella may be made to DeMoney Grimes towards final expenses.
