Suzanne Jeanne Shock, age 65, of North Webster, IN passed away at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.Born on October 2, 1945 in Muncie, she was the daughter of Dallas Floyd and Marguerite J. "Peggy" (Sweeney) Buis.
She spent most of her lifetime in North Webster and graduated from North Webster High School with the Class of 1963.On June 3, 1963 she married Curtis E. Shock at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton. Her first job was manager of Palace of Sweets; then due to her love for books and reading she became librarian at North Webster Jr. High School; then she served as office manager of Blue Flame and lastly she was the owner and operator of the Book Fool Bookstore in North Webster.She was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women's Rebekah Circle and was very instrutmental in establishing the North Webster/Tippecanoe Township Library where she served and volunteered on the Library Board of Directors for many years.She was an avid reader and loved to garden, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Curtis E. Shock of North Webster; son, Michael P. (Kelly) Shock of North Webster; 4 grandchildren, Adam (Christine) Shock, Danielle Walters, Alexander Shock and Anna Shock; sisters, Alice E. "Betsy" (Ralph) Luce and Jane A. (Dexter) Shepherd both of North Webster and D. Kimberly (Philip) Smith of Leesburg; 2 nieces, 5 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kellyn "Kelly" Maureen Buis and one nephew, Patrick A. Wiseman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at North Webster United Methodist Church, 7722 E Epworth Forest Road, North Webster.Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the church with Pastor Wes Brookshire officiating. Burial will follow at North Webster Cemetery, SR 13 N, North Webster. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Shock's memory to North Webster United Methodist Church's Matthew 25 Fund or Tippecanoe Township/North Webster EMS.Envelopes will be available through the funeral home at the church.Please visit
