TED ROGER HARE

June 16, 1932 — April 5, 2013

Ted Roger Hare, age 80, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 3:50 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on June 16, 1932 in North Manchester, Wabash County, he was the son of Orda Odell and Dorothy Marie (Baker) Hare-Hoover.

He lived in Wabash County then moved to Whitley County in 1944.Ted graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1948 and later the Indiana Police Academy.On November 1, 1991, he married Bonnie J. King-Crabill in Columbia City.He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954.He retired from the Columbia City Police Department in 1988 with 20 years of service, obtaining Captain of the Department.Prior to that he worked at Daily Express, Columbia City for 7 1/2 years.He attended Gospel Land Ministries. He was a member of Columbia City American Legion Post #98 for 50 years, where he served as Past Commander and to also was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5582.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie J. Hare of Columbia City; children, Cheryl D. (Scott) States, Kim L. (Dianna) Hare all of Columbia City; Nicole R.(Robert) Fravel of Decatur; Jason (Kende) Hare of Columbia City; step-daughter, Tracy L. (Jason McClanahan) Hare of Columbia City; step-son, Randy (Shantal) Crabill of Columbia City; 2 brothers, Joe L. (Alberta) Hare and Bill W. (Betty) Hare both of Columbia City; sister, Patricia A. "Tish" (Bob) Allen of Murfeesboro, TN; 14 grandchildren; 1 step grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Shelly L. Cramer and sister, Bonnie J. Jones.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2-4 and 5-7 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Curtiss Johnson and Dale Moser officiating with burial at Nolt Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Whitley County Korean War Veteran's Honor Guard. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Hare to American Diabetes Association.
