Terry Crow

March 28, 1962 — April 18, 2019

Fun loving, generous, and caring are just a few ways to describe Terry Crow. A few events that occurred in history in 1962 include NASA's Ranger 4 spacecraft was launched and crashed on the Moon, President John F. Kennedy calls for a "Consumer Bill of Rights" during an address to Congress, the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington is completed just in time for the 1962 World's Fair, and on March 28, 1962, Terry Lynn Crow was welcomed by Alva Sr. and Sandra (Earhart) Crow in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He was the fourth of their five children.

As a teenager, Terry loved cruising around in his midnight blue 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle and he always had the loudest stereo of any car in town! Terry attended Columbia City High School and graduated with the Class of 1980. For several years Terry was a bartender and also ran a car business, where he loved having the opportunity to meet new and different people. He was later a truckdriver and worked for Schenkel's Dairy in Huntington and most recently worked for Fed Ex in Fort Wayne.

Terry was definitely a family oriented man, and while he had no children of his own, he loved and treated all of his nieces and nephews as if they were his very own. He loved family get togethers and spending time with his family. Terry even called his Mama every day just to check in and to tell her that he loved her.

Terry attended St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Columbia City. He enjoyed deer and mushroom hunting, fishing, filming some of them, in addition to painting and gardening. Terry was an avid Whitetails Unlimited sponsor and avid Chicago Cubs and "Da Bears" fan. He also loved country music, playing his guitar, and considered himself a songwriter.

Terry will be forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the chance to know and loved him. Sadly he passed away suddenly on Thursday April 18, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne, at the young age of 57.

Survivors include his mother and step-father Sandy (Dale) Barkey of Columbia City; siblings Jay (Carol) Crow and Don (Kim Taylor) Crow, both of Columbia City, Kent (Carla) Crow of Largo, FL, and Kim (Gene) Shatto of Holiday, FL; step-brother Greg Barkey of Fort Wayne; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Alva Crow Sr., nephew Isaac Crow, aunt Joan Morgan, and step-brothers Mike and Jeff Barkey.
