Terry L. Friend

Terry Lee Friend, 58, of Columbia City, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Parkview Hospital. Born May 17, 1963 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Robert D. and Mary L. (Beckman) Friend.

He attended Columbia City Joint High School where he played basketball and received the Sportsmanship Award. Terry had been a mechanic at Churubusco Auto Electric and worked at Aladdin Carpet Cleaning. Terry will be remembered for his big heart. He was very caring, would help anyone who asked, had a great sense of humor and was a gifted handyman. He loved spending time with his family and helping out watching after his granddaughter. Terry enjoyed taking trips with his family, watching the Indianapolis Colts, planting vegetable gardens, golfing, and smoking meats. He found relaxation being outdoors fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Terry is survived by his son, Terry Lee Friend, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy (Heather) Friend; daughter, Trisha (Doug) Hyser; grandchildren, Emmit, Nikki, Cameron, Caden, Tristen, Jimmy and Olivia; brothers, Larry (Shirley) Friend, Tom (Sonya) Friend  and Dave Friend; and sister, Kathy (Rodney Geisleman) Streby. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Friend and Mark Friend; and sister, Laura Lehman.
