Thelma Louise Snyder, 87, of Greenwood, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her sons home in Skokie, IL.
Born on a farm in Whitley County, Indiana, she served as a cadet nurse during World War II and later as a psych RN working for the State of Indiana and at private nursing homes in Indianapolis. A lifelong resident of Indiana, she traveled widely in the US and visited China, Singapore, Malaysia, Egypt and the British Isles. An accomplished seamstress and poet, she authored an unpublished genealogy of the Gradeless family and collected antique glassware.
She is survived by sisters Margaret Thomas, Lucille Leffel and Jean Webb; sons Arnold T. Smith, Jerrold L. Smith, and Carl Davila; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 to noon on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 1460 500 N, Columbia City, IN. Service and burial at St. Matthews Cemetery to follow. Arrangements with DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City.
