Thomas Donald Chrzanowski, 72, of Tri Lakes, Columbia City, IN passed away suddenly at 7:26 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at his residence. Born on December 9, 1936 in South Bend, IN he was the son of Leo Bernard and Irene Gertrude (Radzikowski) Chrzanowski.He spent the majority of his lifetime in South Bend where he attended Central High School and on June 9, 1956 he married Eleanor Jean Greene in South Bend, IN. He served with the United States Army from December 14, 1953 until his discharge on December 13, 1956, serving as a PFC. He was employed as a dispatcher for 30 years with American Electric Power, retiring in 1998. He and his wife moved to Columbia City in 1994. He was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Parish, South Bend and most recently attended St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City, IN. He was a member of Columbia City American Legion Post #98 and the AEP Livewires and AEP Michiana VREA.Survivors include his wife, Jean of Columbia City, IN; 2 sons, Thomas (Laura) Chrzanowski, Westfield, IN and Mark (Marianne) Chrzanowski, Anderson, IN; 1 brother, Eugene (Geraldine) Chrzanowski, Mishawaka, IN; 3 grandchildren, Brandy, Emily and Alexander Chrzanowski and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons and step-sister, Kathleen Stafford.Visitation is 2-6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Inc. 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. The Prayer Vigil will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 South Line, Columbia City, IN with Father Larry Kramer officiating. Committal rites and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 824 South Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN. Memorial bequest may be given in Mr. Chrzanowski's memory to St. Jude's Children Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
