Thomas J. Smith

Thomas J. Smith, age 61, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Columbia City passed away at 7:43 am on Monday July 18, 2022, at Majestic Care Jefferson Pointe, Fort Wayne.  Born on August 10, 1960 in Huntington, IN, he was the son of Richard L. “Smitty” and MaDonna R. (Cunningham) Smith.

Thomas attended Columbia City High School and graduated with the Class of 1978.  He then attended ITT Technical Institute and graduated with two degrees.  Thomas never missed a day of work from the time he graduated.

Thomas worked as an electrician and was also pleased to have served on the Whitley County Sheriff Reserve for 20 years.  He was a York Rite Mason and member of Blue Knights International.  Thomas enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, shooting, collecting a variety of unique items, and volunteering for Shop with a Cop.

Survivors include his sister Tammy Smith of Fort Wayne and aunt Lula Belle Little of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering for friends will be held on Saturday July 23, 2022, from 1:30-3:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
