TIMOTHY D. HEARLD

October 10, 1970 — February 19, 2014

Although he accomplished so much of which to be proud, Timothy Hearld was a humble man whose heart beat to make a difference in the world around him. A lifelong resident of the community he loved, through the generosity of both his time and resources he made a significant impact in the lives of countless others. Tim was a devoted husband and father who viewed his family as his most priceless treasure. With a zest for life that was contagious to others, he didnt hesitate to seize any and every opportunity to bring a smile to those around him no matter how goofy or corny he needed to be. Life will never be the same without Tim here, but the timeless legacy he leaves behind will continue on through the hearts and lives of all who were blessed to know and love him.

The 1970s were a time unlike any other in American history. Space exploration continued to gain momentum as unmanned space probes explored the moon as well as Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus. Atari topped the Christmas list of nearly every young person since it became available while bellbottom pants, mood rings, and lava lamps were among the latest trends. Amidst this exciting time there was much to celebrate in the lives of a young couple from Columbia City, Indiana, as they welcomed a healthy baby boy into their hearts and home on October 10, 1970. Timothy D. was one of three children born to his parents, Dennis and Beverly (Mossburg) Hearld, and he was raised in the family home alongside his brother, Doug, and his sister, Angie. He and his family attended First Church of God together.

In many ways Tim experienced an upbringing that was fairly typical for the youth of his generation. He seemed to have the world by the tail right from the start and was an active boy with an insatiable thirst for adventure. A bit fearless, Tim loved riding his mini-bike and three wheeler. It really isnt that surprising that he always seemed to be getting hurt, but it was all in the name of being helpful. Spending time outdoors hunting and fishing were additional favorite pastimes.

While growing up Tim was a student at local schools. He was an accomplished athlete as well as he was the county champion in the 800 meter dash in the eighth grade. Tim also played soccer and football. It was well known that he was willing to take on any kind of challenge such as participating in a hot dog eating contest. In high school Tim accepted the challenge to put five Ho-Hos in his mouth, which was quite something to see. He went on to graduate from Columbia City Joint High School in 1989.

Not to be forgotten during his years in high school was Tims introduction to the young woman of his dreams. Her name was Denise Grable, and they met through mutual friends. A dating relationship ensued, and after getting to know one another for two years the sweethearts found themselves deeply in love. With a desire to establish a life together they were united in marriage on November 16, 1991, at First Church of God. Together they were blessed with the births of three children, Carlee, Timothy R., and Allie. Tim loved being a father and was an active part of his childrens lives.

Throughout his career Tim was a successful businessman, due in part to his ingenuity, but also due to his belief in treating both his employees and customers alike with honesty and integrity. His company, Synergid Commercial Inc., is a general contractor that specializes in Design Build, Sustainable Buildings, renovating existing buildings, and 24 hour on-call service work. Tims business name was chosen to reflect their overall business model as synergy means working together. Synergid Commercial firmly believes that a building project should support the values and goals of the owners and employees who work within the building. Tim was the companys president beginning in February of 2002 to the present day. Under his direction they strived to be a conscientious company that openly communicates with prospective clients and is proactive and responsive to a customers questions and concerns. This goal has proven to be effective in establishing enjoyable and creative building projects. Former customer, Jason Matteson who is the president of Matteson Acoustics, spoke highly of Synergid Commercial Inc. out of his positive experiences with the company.

In addition to his business, Tim reached out to his community in several other ways. Since September of 2011, he served on the board of directors for Passages Inc., an organization that is devoted to helping people with intellectual disabilities or other challenges to thrive in the world around them. Tim was a member of Del Fuego LLC in Columbia City since March of 2011. With the purchase of the old Masonic Lodge in Columbia City, he worked to make The Van Buren Building the cornerstone of downtown revitalization. After three years of intensive renovations and diligence, Tim felt accomplished in this mission. An enormous success, this project had the second highest renovation value spent in downtown Columbia City, second only to the county owned Government Center. Additionally, he was the sole owner of CMH Arrowhead LLC since May 2008, vice president of a local beauty salon and spa called Snippers, Inc. since June 2007, an associate with Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of NEIN since February of 2002, and the recording secretary of Local 232.

As an adult Tim continued to have an interest in sports. He was the assistant coach for girls track and both girls and boys cross-country at Columbia City High School from May of 2009 through October of 2012. Tim remained active by training for triathlons and playing basketball with St. Matthews church league, loved playing in the snow and going snowmobiling, and was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fun-loving, relaxed, and driven are just a few of the words that describe Timothy Hearld. He had a great sense of humor and loved making others laugh - even dressing up like a lady on one occasion. Tim rose to any challenge he took on and was passionate about helping others. Deeply devoted to his family, he viewed his roles as a husband and father to be his greatest gift. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Tim enjoyedspending time with his friends and going on motorcycle rides. Whether it was for a few hours or a few days he made it an adventure every time.Never normal, always special.
