Tom attended Marshall County Schools, living in Plymouth and moved to Columbia City in 1975. On August 24, 1979 Tom married Mary Ellen Grizzle in Larwill, IN. He was a cast worker at Essex for 13 years prior to working in maintenance at C & R Plating for 13 years in Columbia City.
Tom was an avid deer hunter since his childhood and also enjoyed working on cars, riding horses, butterflies, playing checkers and skip bo, volleyball, and owning the court while playing badminton.
Things we will always remember about Tom is his love for his family and his animals. Tom was always our protector in life. He always loved muscle cars and old trucks. He loved to go out and target practice with his guns with me his wife, and his children, and the grandkids. He always taught them safety first when handling a gun. Tom would tell us happy birthday by sounding like Frosty the Snowman. He made me laugh so hard the first time he did this to me. He did it just out of the blue. Tom loved to play Santa Claus for his grandchildren. Tom had what he called the world's smallest violin and when any of us would complain or whine about something he would play it for us as a hint we were whining. Tom was a good cook. A couple of our favorite things were his fried potatoes and onions, his pancakes, his mac and cheese and his fried sauerkraut and onions. His favorite times of the year were hunting season and Christmas. He was a hard worker all his life. Tom was a very dedicated man to his work and family. We will always remember him for being the best husband, father, and grandfather, anyone could have asked for.
