Vasiliki D. Toskos, 97, died Friday afternoon, January 4, 2008 at her Columbia City home. She was born on August 20, 1910 in Vissinia, Greece the daughter of Thomas and Anastasia Pantsios.
In 1928, she was united in marriage to Damianos Toskos in Greece. In 1956 after the death of her husband, she immigrated to Fort Wayne, IN and she has been a resident of Columbia City since 1994. She was a founding member of the Philoptochos Society.
Survivors include 2 sons, Thomas (Evelyn) Toscos of Fort Wayne, IN and Sotirios D. (Thomai) Toskos of Columbia City; 1 daughter, Elaine Vlahos of Garden City, NY; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Damianos Toskos, daughter, Marika Mantsios and 1 infant grandson, Theodore Toscos.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 2-7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. A Trisagion Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:30 pm. Calling will also be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 110 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, IN after 9:30 a.m. on Monday. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church with Father Paul Bebis officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Columbia City, IN. Memorial gifts may be given in memory of Mrs. Toskos to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
