Virginia L. Maggart-Stout

Virginia Lois Maggart-Stout, age 93, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 2:20 am on Friday March 11, 2022, at Miller’s at Oak Pointe, Columbia City.  Born on April 11, 1928, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Clarence and Blondena (Geiger) Jones.

Virginia was raised in Collins and Churubusco.  She has lived in Larwill, Columbia City, and Ligonier. Virginia attended Churubusco High School. She married Gerald L. Maggart on November 18, 1944, in Columbia City.  On January 26, 1974, she married Thomas L. Stout in Ligonier, IN.

Virginia worked for Owens in Warsaw and Starcraft in Emma, IN.  She was a member of Collins United Methodist Church.  Virginia was an avid reader.  She also enjoyed travelling, playing euchre, and line-dancing.

Survivors include her children Vicki (Bud) Darr of Columbia City, Sharon (Robert) Brase of Fort Wayne, Carol (Richard) Long of Warsaw, and Kathy (Joe) Derheimer of Monticello, Stephen (Mary Dee) Stout of Austin, TX and Barbara (John) Campbell of Churubusco; daughter-in-law Sally Maggart of South Whitley; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Gerald Maggart, second husband Thomas Stout, brother Gerald Jones, sons Gary Maggart and Dean Maggart, and grandson Jacob Maggart.

Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday March 16, 2022, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The funeral service may also be watched live on Facebook at DeMoney-Grimes Live beginning at 12:55 pm.

Burial in Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
