Wayne Allen Gordon, 76, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 23, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born June 24, 1945 in Columbia City, he was the son of Leonard Dale and Florence Alice Elizabeth (Collar) Gordon.
Growing up in Columbia City, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1963. On April 27, 1990, he married Janelle Conner and gained two more daughters. He worked for International Harvester for 30 years, retiring in the early 2000's from the Springfield, Ohio plant. For a brief time he worked at Dana as well after Harvester closed the Fort Wayne location. Following retirement, he and Janelle spent a lot of time together and enjoyed traveling to Florida and Arizona, going out and eat, grilling out, and driving their decked out golf cart around town.
Wayne loved his automobiles. In the 60's, he enjoyed drag racing. He loved his Corvettes and was proud to have owned a few over the years. As he got out of sports car, he enjoyed time on his golf cart and had been part of the Columbia City Golf Cart Club. Wayne was meticulous about his lawn and he had great pride in its appearance. Out of all things though, he loved his family the most and loved his grandchildren. Wayne will be remembered for being very generous, easy going and having a great work ethic.
Survivors include his children, Bradley (Melissa) Gordon, Tammy (Randy) Kingrey, Michelle (Robert) Judd and Marla (Doug) Fahl; sister, Sharon Coffelt nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Aside from his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janelle Gordon on January 20, 2016; brother, Rex Gordon and sister, Carol Smith.
Funeral services will be 2 pm, Saturday, January 15, 2022 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Visitation will beginning at 12 pm. Burial will take place at Greenhill Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside Janelle. With a love for his pets, memorial donations may be given in Wayne's memory to the Humane Society of Whitley County.
