William Nathan Harrison, age 92, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne.Born March 31, 1921 in Aboite Township, Allen County, he was the son of William Roy and Ethel N. (Smith) Harrison.
He grew up in Aboite Township, Allen County, and Jefferson Township, Whitley County.After graduating from Jefferson Center High School with the Class of 1940, he served in the United States Army.On April 25, 1942, he married Betty Louise Trimmer in Jefferson Township.He was employed with General Electric, Fort Wayne, for 44 1/2 years retiring on February 27, 1986.He was a lifetime member of Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Betty Louise Harrison of Fort Wayne; son, William "Ed" Edward Harrison of Goshen; 2 daughters, Susan Shaffmaster of Fort Wayne and Jane Graham of Spokane, WA; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James D. Harrison and sisters, Virginia Faye DeMoney and LaVera Harshbarger, granddaughter, Kelly Katherine Graham and son-in-law, Richard Shaffmaster.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2-6 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral service will be at Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with one hour of calling prior to service with Reverend Leonard King officiating.Burial will follow at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery with graveside military rites presented by the Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Harrison to the Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church.Please visit
