William G. Marks, age 87, of Winona Lake, IN, formerly of Columbia City,passed away at 4:57 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, IN.Born on October 25, 1925 in Columbia City, IN, he was the son of GarlE. and Arlouine (Ramp) Marks.
He and his parents moved for a short time to Montpelier, OH from Columbia City, but with that exception, he has spent the rest of his life in the Columbia City area, residing at Loon Lake since 1984. While there he enjoyed fishing for bluegill, playing cards, and creating oil paintings.He attended Columbia City Public Schools. He was employed with Whitley Plastics and General Electric early in his career and then the Dana Weatherhead Company, Columbia City, for 28 years as a Machinist.He was a memeber of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and F Lodge 189, Columbia City.
Survivors include his step-daughter, Terry (Jeff) Jurgess of Harbor Beach, MI; sister, Betty Jean (Marks) Miller of Winona Lake; step-grandchildren Jared (Kristie Booms) Jurgess, Joshua Jurgess, Jeremy (Lauren) Jurgess; step-greatgrandson Ryder; niece Tina Landon.He was preceded in death by his parents, step father Perry Schinbeckler, first wife, Mary K. Marks, second wife, Norma Jean Marks and brother, Garl Marks, Jr.
Visitation will be held onMonday, October 28, 2013 from 10A.M.-12P.M. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.Funeral services will be held at 12:00PMat the funeral home with Chaplain Glenn Byers officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Marks' memory to Grace Village Healthcare Center, Shriner's Hospitals for Children, or Whitley County Humane Society.
