William "Bill" Chester Sprowl, age 61, of Columbia City, Ind., died at 9:52 a.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his residence.Born April 26, 1949 in Marion, IN he was the son of Chester H. and Charlotte May (Carter) Sprowl.
Born and raised in Marion, he graduated with the Class of 1967 from Mississinewa High School, Gas City. A resident of Grant County the majority of his lifetime, he moved to Columbia City in 1994. A general farmer from 1980 - 1994, he served on the Marion Police Department for ten years from 1969 - 1979 and he was a former supervisor at Bosch Automotive for ten years retiring in 2006. On February, 24, 2007 he married Renee` Herendeen in Columbia City. His memberships included Masonic Lodge, Jonesboro; Shriners Fort Wayne Lodge and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his wife, Renee` Sprowl of Columbia City; son, Billy (Angie) Grubb of Fairmount; daughter, Becki (Brad) Dailey of Gas City; step-daughters, Raven (Joe Harter) Herendeen of Churubusco, Crystal (Trent) Fulk of Columbia City and Melissa (Jason Watson) Herendeen of Columbia City; step-son, Matthew (Robin Wienbrenner) Herendeen of Columbia City; father, Chester H. Sprowl, of Gas City; brother, Phil (Linda Beal) Alleman of Marion; sisters, Janet Davis of Hennessey, OK, Farol Stanley of Lakeland, FL, Dianne Wagner of Gray, TN, Cinda (Larry) Moorefield of Delphos, OH, Brenda (Jeff) Schroeder of Benita, OK and Janice Miller of Bluffton; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Sprowl in 2003 and a sister, Norma Wingfield.
Visitation is Friday, November 19, 2010 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge service at 12:30 p.m. funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.Pastor James Bachman, pastor emeritus of Roanoke Baptist Church will officiate.Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Churubusco.Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Sprowl to the family.
