Joseph Lee Doyle

Joseph Lee Doyle, age 67, of Kimmell, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his residence. Born on May 8, 1953 in Lafayette, Indiana, he was the son of Cyril and Marion (Lorance) Doyle.

Joe graduated from South Newton High School with the Class of 1971. On November 22, 1974, he married Cathleen (Wingler) in Nashville, Tennessee. He started working for General Motors in 1975 and retired in 2008. Joe liked watching sports, especially baseball, football and NASCAR. He was a diehard Chicago Bears and White Sox fan, in addition to being an avid music lover and album collector. Joe also enjoyed playing softball and working on older cars. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and UAW Local 95 and Local 2209.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Doyle; daughter, Carrie (William) Shelmadine; grandchildren, Carissa, Aiden, and William; siblings, Mary (Bud) Brink, Ruby Kellogg, Terry (Vivian) Doyle, George Doyle, Laurie (Jay) Pace, Barb Plummer, and Michael (Lisa) Doyle; half-sister Darlene (Rich) Dawson; step-siblings, Sandy (Glenn) Saal, Susan (Mike) Gilbert, Sheryl (Otto) Grifin, Steven (Jan) Olson, and Scott (Barb) Olson. .
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Loraine Olson Doyle; siblings, Sharon Olson, Dan, Jim, Jerry, and David Doyle.


A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00-2:00 on Tuesday June 2, 2020 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with limited seating. Memorial donations may be given in memory to Whitley County Humane Society.
