Lois Ann Downing

Lois Ann Downing, age 82, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 6:04 pm on Monday January 2, 2023, at her residence.  Born on May 9, 1940, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Herschel and Helen (LaRue) Coulter.

Lois attended Coesse High School and graduated with the Class of 1958.  On August 15, 1959, she married Carl Downing in Columbia City.

Lois was a homemaker and also worked at Magnavox, General Electric, and Citizen’s Bank. She was a member of Coesse United Methodist Church and enjoyed making cards, cooking, and baking cakes for all occasions.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Carl Downing of Columbia City; son Chad (Caroline) Downing of Columbia City; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Paul (Joyce) Coulter, Russell (Lana Wheeler) Coulter, and Joy (Walt) Crowder, all of Columbia City; daughter-in-law Tam Downing-Snyder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Paula Kim Woll, son Mark Downing, siblings Linda Coulter Clifford, Deloris Coulter Messman, Carol Coulter Kosteck, LeRoy Coulter, Mike Coulter, and granddaughter Whitney Shoda.

Friends may call on Sunday January 8, 2023, from 12:00-4:00 pm at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services for Lois will be held at 10:00 am on Monday January 9, 2023, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Union Township Cemetery, Coesse.

Memorial contributions in memory of Lois may be made to American Cancer Society – Indiana.
