Rex A. Roberson, age 90, of Painesville, OH, formerly of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 9:25 pm on Sunday January 7, 2024, at David Simpson Hospice House, Cleveland, OH. Born on May 13, 1933, in Whitley County, he was the son of Parker and Viva (Herron) Roberson.
Rex attended Coesse High School and graduated with the Class of 1951. On January 17, 1953, he married Barbara McKinzie at Grace Lutheran Church, Columbia City. Rex worked as a foreman at W.S. Shamban & Co., Fort Wayne until his retirement after 40 years of service.
Rex was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Painesville, OH. He enjoyed fishing, camping & woodworking.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara Roberson of Painesville, OH; daughter Debra (Karl) Engler of Mentor, OH; grandchildren Courtney (Dan) Greggs and Karl “Gus” (Anna) Engler, both of Mentor, OH; great-grandchildren who all lovingly called him T-Rex; Andrew Engler, Gavin Greggs, Julia Engler, Parker Greggs, Max Engler and Lola Greggs; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Phil Roberson, Guy Roberson, Dale Roberson, Lee Roberson, June Clark, and Grace Karst.
Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday January 11, 2024, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.
Funeral services for Rex will be held at 10:00 am on Friday January 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
Entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN.
